Sand Dunes National Park Family Campout, May 2010

Two night family annual campout to the Sand Dunes National Park, Alamosa, Colorado.  Arrived Friday night battling a snowstorm that closed the pass for awhile but those who were determined then set up camp.  Saturday we went to the Dunes to hike to the top of the highest dune.   Afternoon we had a hike into the Zapata Falls and saw the contrast of lots of ice still in the canyon at the waterfall.  Saturday night lots of great recipes were cooked.   We had our traditional wood burning campfire and we conducted a wonderful flag retirement ceremony. This year a small group of Scouts visited the local Alligator Farm located north of Alamosa on the way back to Denver on Sunday afternoon.
