Troop Annual Family Campout to Sand Dunes National Park, May 2007

Tradition in our Troop is to have our Spring Family Campout to Southern Colorado at the Sand Dunes National Park.  All our new Scouts and lots of older Scouts and their families join us in a fun weekend of camping and climbing the sand dunes.  This year Scoutmaster John Rohde led a small group of Scouts on the Dunes on Friday night to campout overnight on the dunes (by special permit).  The rest of the Troop took their glow sticks out and hiked the sand dunes in the dark on Friday.  Saturday the Troop returned to the dunes to play in the cold stream and even climb to the top of the highest dune.  Saturday night the traditional campfire and dutch oven cooking took place.
