Annual Fourteener Mountaineering accent of Quandary Peak near Breckenridge, CO, Sept 2005

Troop 373 has a tradition to climb a fourteener Colorado mountain every fall and this year we climbed Quandary Peak located south of Breckenridge near Hooser Pass.  The Scouts and adults had a Friday night campout at a forest service campground near Fairplay.  We awoke early Saturday morning before sunrise to have breakfast and clean up camp.  We arrived at the Quandary Peak trailhead at sunrise and started climbing.  We started on the trail and climbed up above timberline after the first mile.  It became very windy and rocky.  The elevation gain was over 3300 feet to the top.  Most made it to the top for photos and the great views.  Where will the Troop go next year??
