Troop 373 Events Back to the listAnnual Family Campout at the Great Sand Dunes National Monument, Alamosa Colorado, May 2004Troop 373 traveled to the Great Sand Dunes National Monument for our annual family two night campout. Fifty Scouts, parents, sisters and brothers joined us this year for our traditional Friday night glow stick hike the dunes in the dark. We then returned for our campfire. Saturday we spent lots of time climbing to the top of the tallest dune in the windstorm. We also played in the cold water in the stream. Our Saturday evening campfire included retiring a US flag ceremony and campfire stories and lots of jokes. The food was especially good this year including some dutch oven desserts by Mr. Earle. Some adventurers hiked to the Zapata falls to enjoy the icy waters and views of the icy waterfall.
