New Scout Cherry Creek State Park Campout

May 1, 2004 Campout for our New Scouts at Cherry Creek State Park.  We arrived at Homestead School at 8am with snow on the ground.  We carpooled over to the Cherokee Group Campsite at the park.  Snow was everywhere but the sun was shining.  It took only a few hours to melt the snow and get warm  We pitched our tents and started conducting training sessions for the newer Scouts.  We had great patrol meals and some interesting recipes.   We had a 1 hour service project to clean up the Beach Area.  The Saturday night game of Capture the Flag lasted 2 hours then the traditional campfire was great.  We had a special ceremony to retire a flag and told lots of stories and jokes.  Sunday we awoke to another day of sunshine and we had a wonderful religious service with the snow capped mountains behind the Scouts conducting the service.  Thanks to all the Scout instructors who helped with the newer Scout rank advancements.
