Cape Cod, Massachusetts Summer Camp Maritime Adventure Trek, July 2004

Twelve Scouts and Adults spent a week on Cape Cod at the Cape Cod Maritime Adventure Treks.  They bicycled 90 miles in a week along Cape Cod.  Events included whale watching, overnight to Nantucket Island, fishing, shell collecting, and lots of bicycling.  Food included a lobster cookout.  Biking - bike along woodland trails that pass working cranberry bogs and kettle ponds; through scenic Cape Cod villages; along the shores of Cape Cod Bay and Atlantic Ocean beaches and through the sand dunes of the Province Lands.  Boating - set sail into Cape Cod Bay for an overnight cruise; slip your kayak into a saltwater tidal pond, paddle across pristine salt marshes, tidal rivers, coves and protected bays.  Camping - camp where no other visitors can go! Cape Maritime has obtained special permission for camping within the Cape Cod National Seashore, the Islands and at other locations on Cape Cod. Fishing/Shellfishing - Dig for clams, pull a lobster pot and cast your line from the beach into the Atlantic surf where the REALLY BIG ONES hide!  Whale Watching - there is nothing like the thrill of viewing one of natures largest creatures up close in their natural habitat.  Historic Sites - site of the Pilgrims first landing, Cape Cod offers over 300 years of American and Maritime heritage to experience and explore.  Island Hops - Day and overnight excursions to the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
