Troop Annual Family Sand Dunes National Monument Campout, May 2003

Two night Campout to the Great Sand Dunes National Monument in southwestern Colorado located near Alamosa.  We stay at the Oasis group campgrounds where we camp in the pine trees and are allowed to have campfires.  We had our traditional Friday night glow stick hike in the dunes.  Saturday we climbed to the top of the tallest sand dune and also played in the cold river.  We had a traditional campfire with songs, ghost stories, jokes, and we retired an American Flag.  It is a Troop 373 tradition to have a spring family campout to welcome the newer Scouting families into our Troop.
